2007 - 2008 Competition Schedule!

The 2007 - 2008 Cheer Thunder Competition schedule is now available.

Want to be part of Cheer Thunder? Here's the info you'll need in order to try out for one of our teams. Please call the gym at 410-729-0100 or email Mike Warner for more information about our tryouts.

Tryouts dates for the 2008-2009 season are as follows:

  • Saturday, May 10th - 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  • Monday, May 12th - 6:00 to 8:00 PM
  • Wednesday, May 14th - 6:00 to 8:00 PM

Here are the age requirements for tryout purposes (age as of May 31, 2008), which will go along with the cheerleader’s skill level:

  • Tiny - 5 years old and younger
  • Mini - 8 years old and younger
  • Youth - 11 years old and younger
  • Junior - 14 years old and younger
  • Senior - 18 years old and younger

Please make sure a parent is present to sign a tryout waiver and other necessary forms. You will need to bring a copy of the cheerleader’s birth certificate. All cheerleaders are welcome to tryout regardless of experience or age.

The tryout cost is $25.00 ($15.00 if you are currently on a team). All cheerleaders (except for Tiny – 5 years old and younger - registration only) trying out must come dressed in t-shirt, gym/cheer shorts, and tennis shoes. Hair must be up and out of your face. Jewelry is not allowed at tryouts. Please bring a water or sports drink with you.

Tryouts will begin with stretching. Cheerleaders will be taught a cheer for the tryout. Cheerleaders will be evaluated on motions, jumps, tumbling, stunting and sportsmanship!

We will try to make the tryout process as low-stress as possible. The cheerleader will be given numerous chances to demonstrate their cheerleading skills.

After the final date of the tryout evaluations, the coaching staff will meet to assemble teams for the 2008-2009 season. The coaching staff will work together to come up with teams that each have the best possible chance of a successful competitive cheerleading season. This means that each team would ideally be comprised of a variety of cheerleaders that fit that team’s cheerleading skill level. After the meetings are completed, we will contact each cheerleader (or parent) individually to let them know the results of tryouts. We will strive to have teams for cheerleaders of every age and experience level so the vast majority of the cheerleaders attending tryouts will be placed on a team. While we anticipate having number of teams and divisions, we cannot determine that until after the tryouts are completed.

If you have any questions regarding tryouts or our organization, please call our gym, Flip-N-Shout, at 410.729.0100 or send us an email.
